Safety is our #1 priority

Every decision we make — from how we verify hosts to what locations we allow — is made with the safety of our students in mind. Here's exactly how it works.

How we verify hosts

Every host profile on Pathway is reviewed by our team before it becomes active. We verify that each host is a genuine working professional in their stated field. Hosts who cannot demonstrate this will not be approved.

All experiences must take place in professional settings — offices, clinics, studios, or other established workplaces. Private homes and unsupervised locations are not permitted under any circumstances.

We reserve the right to remove any host or experience from the platform at any time if we believe it poses a risk to students.

What to expect during a shadowing experience

Every experience on Pathway has a structured agenda. Hosts are required to share what the day will look like before you attend. There are no surprises.

  • Experiences are observation-based — you watch and learn, you are not put to work.
  • You are never asked to provide transportation or travel alone with a host.
  • Hosts cannot collect personal contact details outside of the Pathway platform.
  • All communication between students and hosts is logged within our platform.

If anything during an experience makes you uncomfortable, you are always free to leave and report the issue to our team.

For parents

If a student is under 18, we require parental or guardian consent before a booking can be approved. We'll send a consent email to the address you provide when registering.

We log all messages and booking activity on our platform. Parents can request a transcript of their child's activity at any time by contacting us at safety@pathway.app.

If you have any concerns about a specific host, experience, or interaction, please contact us immediately. We treat every report seriously and respond within one business day.

Reporting a concern

If something doesn't feel right — before, during, or after an experience — please report it. You can submit a report from any experience or user profile page once signed in, or email us directly.

When we receive a report, we:

  • Acknowledge receipt within 24 hours.
  • Temporarily suspend the reported experience or host while we investigate.
  • Conduct a full review and take appropriate action, up to permanent removal.
  • Follow up with the reporting party once the review is complete.

All reports are handled confidentially. We never share the identity of the person who filed a report with the person being reported.
